Data Deletion

Last updated: August 29, 2026

You can delete your Kitchen Book account and the data associated with it at any time. This page explains how, including data we imported from Instagram on your behalf.

In a hurry? Email kristin@thekitchenbook.com from the address on your account with the subject Delete my data, and we will take care of it within 30 days.

1. Delete your whole account yourself

This is the fastest and most complete option, and you do not need to contact us.

  1. Sign in at creator.thekitchenbook.com.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Choose Delete account and confirm.

Deleting your account removes your sign-in credentials and profile, your Kitchen and its settings, every recipe imported into it, your membership tiers and shop links, your members list, and any comments tied to your account. It also removes your Instagram connection and the access token we held for it. This happens immediately and cannot be undone.

2. Remove only your Instagram connection and Instagram data

If you want to keep your Kitchen Book account but remove everything connected to Instagram, email kristin@thekitchenbook.com with the subject Remove my Instagram data, sent from the email address on your account. We will delete the stored access token, the connection record, and the recipes that were imported from your Instagram posts.

We recommend also revoking our access from Instagram's side, which stops any further connection regardless of what is stored here:

3. Request deletion by email

If you cannot sign in, or you would rather we handle it, write to kristin@thekitchenbook.com from the email address associated with your account and tell us what you would like deleted. Please include:

We will confirm by email once it is done. We respond to deletion requests within 30 days, and usually much sooner. If we cannot verify that the request comes from the account holder, we will ask you for more information rather than delete the data.

4. Members and readers

If you joined a creator's Kitchen as a member or reader rather than as a creator, the same options apply. Delete your account from Settings after signing in, or email us and we will remove your membership records and any comments you posted.

5. What we may keep

After deletion we may retain a limited amount of information where we are required to, such as records of completed transactions kept for tax and accounting purposes, and records needed to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. These records are kept only as long as necessary and are not used to identify you for any other purpose. We may also keep anonymized or aggregated data that can no longer be linked to you.

Backups are rotated on a regular schedule, so a copy of deleted data may persist in a backup for a short period before it is overwritten.

6. Contact
