The Kitchen Book ("The Kitchen Book," "we," "us," or "our") builds tools that help recipe creators turn their published recipes into a branded online Kitchen where their audience can browse, save, print, and support their work. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our websites and services at thekitchenbook.com and creator.thekitchenbook.com (together, the "Services"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
When you create an account, we collect the information needed to identify you and sign you in. Depending on how you register, this includes your name, email address, and profile photo. If you sign in with Google, we receive this basic profile information from Google (see "Information from Google" below). If you sign in with an email link, we collect your email address.
Creators connect the places they already publish (for example a blog, website, or social account) or add recipes directly. We collect and store the recipes, images, titles, descriptions, links, branding, biography, and other content you provide or that we retrieve from the sources you connect, so we can build and keep your Kitchen up to date. Members and visitors may also submit comments and other content that we store and display.
When you use the Services, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information, such as your device and browser type, IP address, pages viewed, referring pages, and general interaction data. We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the Services.
If you choose to sign in with Google, we request only basic, non-sensitive profile scopes. We receive your name, email address, and profile picture, which we use solely to create and manage your account and to identify you within the Services. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, or any other Google data.
Google API Limited Use. The Kitchen Book's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide and improve the account and sign-in features you request, and we do not sell it or use it for advertising.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update much of your information directly in your account, or contact us using the details below to make a request. You may unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time; we may still send you transactional messages necessary to operate your account.
For step-by-step instructions on deleting your account, or on removing only the data we imported from Instagram, see our Data Deletion page.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. By using the Services, you understand your information may be transferred to countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and if changes are material we will provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your information, contact us at kristin@thekitchenbook.com.
